Rev. Vijayesh Lal, General Secretary of the Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI), is a key advocate for the Indian Church and Religious Freedom in the Indian subcontinent.

With a membership exceeding 65,000 churches across the nation, EFI plays a vital role in unifying and representing the evangelical community.

With over two decades of experience, Rev. Lal led the establishment of Open Doors International in the Indian sub-continent in 1999 and served as its Executive Director until early 2014. Concurrently, since 1999, he has been the National Director for EFI’s Religious Liberty Commission.

Actively engaging in national and international forums, Rev. Lal addresses matters concerning the Church and the Nation. His roles extend to training, socio-economic development, advocacy, and research initiatives. A sought-after speaker, he covers themes such as the Church in India, Religious Freedom, Youth issues, and the Theology of and Response to Religious Persecution.

As a writer, Rev. Lal contributes to esteemed publications including Christianity Today, Evangelical Focus, and Indian Currents, with his articles featured in books on Religious Freedom and the Church’s role in nation building. Additionally, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief for AIM, one of India’s oldest Christian magazines.

A member of the National United Christian Forum (NUCF), Rev. Lal played a key role in establishing and strengthening the Christian Legal Association of India, where he served as the first coordinator.
